Specialisterne Canada is recruiting! 

Specialisterne Canada specializes in working with businesses to hire people on the autism spectrum or who identify as neurodivergent.1 Presently, Specialisterne Canada is working with Shared Services Canada (a Canadian Government Department) to recruit for positions in Ottawa. The majority of teams are currently working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Flexible work arrangements may be available after the teams return to the office.

Role Description

 

Data Programmer Analyst

Salary Range  $ 60,696 – $78,216
Full-time, 12-month term with possibility of permanent employment upon completion
Ottawa, Ontario

 

Core Tasks:

  • Perform review/validation/ and cleanup of data captured from several sources 
  • Explore quality issues of data extracted from source systems
  • Engage in data masking activities such as developing script to apply data masking algorithms
  • Perform queries in a database (i.e Oracle) 
  • Create summary reports of findings based on data reviews 

Requirements: 

  • Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.*
  • Basic knowledge of Python
  • Basic knowledge of SQL
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Mainframe Support Technician

Salary Range  $ 60,696 – $78,216  
Full-time, 24-month term with possibility of permanent employment upon completion
Ottawa, Ontario 

Core Tasks:

  • Participate in a 24-Month Mainframe Career Development Program across several possible teams (networking, operating systems, storage, etc.) 
  • Undergo Mainframe technical training (including required government courses) in the first few months of the development program
  • Assist with infrastructure support to mission critical systems on mainframe technology
  • Join an assigned team based on technology (networking, operating systems, storage, etc.) and participate in training by the team

Requirements: 

  • Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed. *

Infrastructure Support Analyst

Salary Range $ 75,129 – $ 91,953
Full-time, 12-month term with possibility of extension
Ottawa, Ontario 

Core Tasks:

  • Create Windows 10 Task Sequences (desktop images) and deploy to end users using SCCM
  • Review group policies in Active Directory
  • Create/test/deploy Windows 10 feature updates
  • Create driver and BIOS packages for new hardware models
  • Update existing drivers and BIOS packages with the latest versions released by the vendor for use in the production images and deploy using SCCM
  • Create monthly task sequence (desktop images) updates that include new applications, application version, and latest security updates

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed. *
  • Experience installing and configuring Windows 10 (experience can be through employment, coursework, or self-study)
  • Experience with SCCM, Intune, OR Autopilot application management systems

Accessibility Support Analyst

Salary Range $ 75,129 – $ 91,953
Full-time, Permanent
Ottawa, Ontario

Core Tasks:

  • Interprets, analyses, defines and documents requirements, and recommends solutions with respect to M365 Accessibility components.
  • Maintains and updates web pages and MS SharePoint sites.
  • Logs and updates Issue tracker list with accessibility issue reports from government users.
  • Uses established information management practices to retain and organize digital content.
  • Completes other tasks as part of the Digital Communication and Collaboration’s (DCC) Accessibility Team and the larger DCC directorate.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed. *
  • Intermediate Windows Excel Skills (Pivot Tables).
  • Basic experience with Web Page Development (HTML or other language).
  • Basic experience using databases.
  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.).

  • Coding new functionalities in HTML and Python in support of RSA Archer application
  • Participate in debugging and testing of RSA Archer application
  • Update Application Programming Interface (API) for RSA Archer application
  • Support database development activities
  • Participate in RSA Archer Administration training 

Requirements: 

  • Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed. * 
  • Experience coding in HTML and Python (employment, coursework, or self-study)
  • Experience with database development in SQL (employment, coursework, or self-study)
  • Experience with application debugging and testing (employment, coursework, or self-study)

The Recruitment Process

Registration

The first step in the recruitment process is for interested candidates to apply for the roles. This will involve completing an online questionnaire as well as submitting their resume to Specialisterne Canada. Instructions for applying are included below. Applicants will be shortlisted for participation in the next step based on a review of each online questionnaire and assessing the likelihood of fit for the roles for which we are recruiting.

Employment Discovery Workshop

The next step in the Specialisterne recruitment process is an Employment Discovery Workshop. It is a hands-on, task-based experience where you will work on specific projects in a virtual setting. It is an opportunity to learn about our approach to hiring, and for us to get to know you – what motivates you, your interests and your skills.

Employment offers are made to the candidates with the best fit. Once accepted, the individuals will transition into their positions at the organization. Specialisterne Canada will provide support where necessary, which may include modifications to the work environment.
