Specialisterne Canada is recruiting!

Specialisterne Canada specializes in working with businesses to hire people on the autism spectrum or who identify as neurodivergent1. Presently, Specialisterne Canada is working with the Public Service Commission of Canada to recruit for multiple positions.

Specialisterne Canada provides recruitment, staffing solutions and management support to businesses interested in creating a more neurodiverse workforce. Specialisterne has an expertise in developing more comfortable processes and work environments where employees can feel productive and supported. We help managers understand the strengths of their employees and implement strategies to help them thrive in the workplace.

The Public Service Commission of Canada is responsible for promoting and safeguarding a merit-based, representative and non-partisan public service that serves all Canadians, in collaboration with stakeholders. PSC also manage the tools for public service recruitment, providing applicants and managers with a single portal to access all public service job opportunities.

Role Descriptions

 

Data Analyst
Full-Time, Temporary
Gatineau, QC (Currently Remote, Subject to change based on status of COVID-19)
Salary Range: $62,168 to $71,275

Core Tasks:

  • Transform raw data into usable data through data cleaning, debugging, incorporating and integrating data into new systems, etc.
  • Run data tests to ensure there are no errors, outliers, or inaccuracies in data holdings
  • Using SAS, integrate new data into data holdings to improve quality
  • Conduct timely and accurate analysis of backend data to ensure that other PSC team members can create useful reports, models, presentations, etc.

Requirements:

Nice to have (not required):

  • Master’s degree in sociology, statistics, economics or a related field
  • Experience transferring raw data into clean data
  • Experience with SAS, Python, SQL, and/or R

 

Accounting Operations Assistant
Full-Time, Permanent
Gatineau, QC (Currently Remote, Subject to change based on status of COVID-19)
Salary Range: $55,543-$60,130

Core Tasks:

    • Monitor general mailbox to answer questions and requests from internal and external clients
    • Receive invoice requests for payments and ensure all of the information is accurate
    • Contact internal clients to remedy any missing or incorrect information from invoice requests
    • Enter accurate financial data into the internal system and send invoice request to financial analysts to get approval
    • Provide financial services to clients, including Regional operations
    • Respond to urgent request for financial information, advice, services, processes and/or immediate financial requests
    • Bilingual (bilingual imperative BBB/BBB)

Requirements:

      • College Diploma in any field
      • Basic experience with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)

Nice to have (not required):

      • College Diploma in accounting

 

Programmer
Full-Time, Permanent
Gatineau, QC (Currently Remote, Subject to change based on status of COVID-19)
Salary Range: $60,696-$78,216

Core Tasks:

      • Participate in the development, integration and maintenance of internal applications using Java
      • Provide support to clients on various issues thorough analysis, options and solutions
      • Help build new features for existing or new application to enhance user experience and functionality
      • Participate in testing and quality assurance tasks to ensure applications are accurate, robust, and accessible.

Requirements:

      • Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed
      • Basic experience with Java and JavaScript
      • Have knowledge of database languages (SQL, Oracle, MS-SQL, PL-SQL, T-SQL)
      • Basic experience with Web Development
      • English or French Essential

Nice to have (not required):

      • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field
      • Experience with testing automation
      • Experience with Python
      • Ability to work with complex structures and queries

 

Financial Analyst
Full-Time, Temporary for a year with the possibility of extension
Gatineau, QC (Currently Remote, Subject to change based on status of COVID-19)
Salary Range: $59,211-$83,062

Core Tasks:

      • Monitor the general mailbox and answer salary and expenditure questions from internal and external clients
      • Review input of pay files and reconciliation to make sure system data is accurate
      • Conduct salary analyses between forecast and expenditures
      • Aid in the recovery of salary expenditures with other departments for employees moving between departments
      • Analyze and approve pay files to ensure employee cheques are correct in value


Requirements:

      • Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics; or Possession of the Government of Canada Financial Management Certificate.
      • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
      • Bilingual (BBB/BBB) OR Unilingual

Nice to have (not required):

      • Experience using a financial system (SAP, Oracle, Simply Accounting, etc.)
      • Eligible for recognized accounting certification (CPA)

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced the details * of its intention to require vaccination throughout the federal public service.

The Recruitment Process

 

Registration

The first step in the recruitment process is for interested candidates to apply for the roles. This will involve completing an online questionnaire as well as submitting their resume to Specialisterne Canada. Instructions for applying are included below. Applicants will be shortlisted for participation in the next step based on a review of each online questionnaire and assessing the likelihood of fit for the roles for which we are recruiting.

Employment Discovery Workshop

The next step in the Specialisterne recruitment process is an Employment Discovery Workshop. It is a hands-on, task-based experience where you will work on specific projects in a virtual setting. It is an opportunity to learn about our approach to hiring, and for us to get to know you – what motivates you, your interests and your skills.

Employment

Employment offers are made to the candidates with the best fit. Once accepted, the individuals will transition into their positions at the organization. Specialisterne Canada will provide support where necessary, which may include modifications to the work environment.
