Specialisterne Canada specializes in working with businesses to hire people on the autism spectrum or who identify as neurodivergent1. Presently, Specialisterne Canada is working with Kinaxis to recruit for positions in Toronto and Ottawa.

Role Description

 

Contributing Analytics Developer

Full-time, Permanent
Toronto or Ottawa, Ontario (Hybrid Remote)

 

Core Tasks:

  • Work closely with Analytics, Product Management, Platform Engineering, and other areas of the business to support analytics solutions
  • Assist senior team members in building scalable applications on top of Kinaxis’s Analytics and Data platform
  • Research and brainstorm with other developers to develop prototype designs
  • Participate in peer review to identify errors and ensure the quality of code
  • Review, clean, manipulate, and document data gathered from multiple sources
  • Document the design and logic behind analytics solutions

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, economics, mathematics, statistics, or a related field
  • Experience with SQL (Experience can be through employment, coursework, or person projects)
  • Experience with Python (Experience can be through employment, coursework, or person projects)
  • Basic skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Nice to have (not required): 

  • Successful completion of co-op/internship program
  • Experience with Databricks, Pyspark, or Pandas
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure

 

Tools Development Software Engineer

Full-time, Permanent
Ottawa, Ontario (Hybrid Remote) 

Core Tasks:

  • Assist with writing, configuring, de-bugging, and testing software tools
  • Research technologies available and identify which technologies are best suited to the task at hand
  • Participate in designing, implementing, documenting, and supporting various tools
  • Work with senior team members to guarantee development, release, deployment, and monitoring of software tools

Requirements: 

  • College Diploma in computer science, engineering, or a related field
  • Hands on experience with C# (employment, coursework, or personal project)
  • Revision Control Software experience (Git, SVN, Microsoft Team Foundation Server, etc.) (employment, coursework, or personal project)
  • Software Development experience (employment, coursework, or personal project)
  • Exposure to CI/CD Automation tools (Jenkins, Teamcity, CircleCI, Bamboo etc.) (employment, coursework, or personal project)
  • Exposure to (or experience with) one or more modern software development principles/practices (Object-Oriented Design/Development, Software Design Patterns,
    S.O.L.I.D. Principles, Agile development, etc.)

Nice to have (not required): 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with PowerShell
  • Experience with artifact repositories such as Artifactory, Nexus, Docker, Elastic, Cloud platforms, Wiki, bug-tracking software (ex. Mozilla)
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with wiki based documentation (confluence, jira, etc.)

The Recruitment Process

Registration

The first step in the recruitment process is for interested candidates to apply for the roles. This will involve completing an online questionnaire as well as submitting their resume to Specialisterne Canada. Instructions for applying are included below. Applicants will be shortlisted for participation in the next step based on a review of each online questionnaire and assessing the likelihood of fit for the roles for which we are recruiting.

Employment Discovery Workshop

The next step in the Specialisterne recruitment process is an Employment Discovery Workshop. It is a hands-on, task-based experience where you will work on specific projects in a virtual setting. It is an opportunity to learn about our approach to hiring, and for us to get to know you – what motivates you, your interests and your skills.

Employment

Employment offers are made to the candidates with the best fit. Once accepted, the individuals will transition into their positions at the organization. Specialisterne Canada will provide support where necessary, which may include modifications to the work environment.
