Quality Assurance Specialist (Role D-7)

Job Description

Do you have strong analytical skills?  Do you enjoy solving problems?  Are you attentive to details and able to use computer tools to spot errors?  Do you enjoy finding and fixing errors in software? We are excited to be partnering with Kinaxis to recruit for two positions in the Ottawa area.  If you answered Yes to some of these questions, you may have what it takes to join the Kinaxis Quality Assurance team!

Here is what you will do:

  • Develop an understanding product specifications for new software features and interfaces;
  • Create testing strategies and programs for new software functionality;
  • Plan and implement new automated tests;
  • Analyze test results and identify root causes for discrepancies;
  • Provide testing support for previous product releases;

Here is what you will need:

  • A degree, diploma or equivalent experience in computer science or related fields such as mathematics, engineering, electronics or similar;
  • Experience in computer programming techniques and languages, including C++, C# or Java (must have experience with at least one of these);
  • Passion for creating and delivering effective and efficient software solutions;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Thorough; attentive to details and to achieving specifications;
  • Creative approach to solving problems
  • Able to understand the user experience and/or business process that is being supported by the application.

These positions will be filled initially as a temporary 6-month term, but will be converted to ‘permanent’ status subject to budget approvals and performance at the end of the term.

Important next steps in the process

Employment Discovery Workshop (September 8th-9th, 2016)
An important first step in the Specialisterne recruitment process is an Employment Discovery Workshop. It is a hands-on, task-based experience where you will work on specific projects in a relaxed setting. It is an opportunity to learn about our approach to hiring, and for us to get to know you – what motivates you, your interests and your skills. Every participant who attends will receive a summary profile useful with future employers. *If you have already attended one of our Discovery Workshops, you will likely not to attend this one. Simply indicate your interest in applying for these roles by completing the survey above.

Training Program (mid-October 2016)
Candidates whose profiles are well suited for the role will be invited to participate in a four week skills evaluation and training program on the employer’s site that will include case studies, real life projects, as well as training relevant to the roles and working environment.

On the job support
Employment offers are made to the candidates with the best fit. Once accepted, the individuals will transition into their positions at the financial services business. Specialisterne Canada will provide support where necessary, which may include modifications to the work environment.
