Direct Investing Strategy Analytics Intern


Are you an analytical thinker with an interest in leveraging and developing your technical skills? Does working with large datasets to investigate trends and business results sound like something you might enjoy?

 Here is what you will do:

  • Work as a part of an analytics team focused on providing insights into the performance of direct investing strategies and initiatives
  • Use internal systems and sources to gather the data needed to understand business results and underlying drivers
  • Filter, transform and transfer the data into SQL environments for analysis and create queries based on the initial business request
  • Analyze, decipher and summarize the data using Microsoft Excel and pivot tables
  • Work individually and sometimes in collaboration with others to create reports and provide insights to stakeholders using charts, bar graphs and other visualizations to communicate findings

In performing this role, you will:

  • Be working towards a degree or diploma in business, commerce, finance, computer science, mathematics, engineering, quantitative analysis, statistics, data analytics or a related field
  • Use your intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g. Pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and experience in SQL to analyze, manipulate and extract data
  • Use your critical thinking skills and interest in finding the ‘why’ behind data to identify relevant patterns and to draw conclusions
  • Use your ability to communicate clearly and concisely to synthesize information verbally and in writing
  • Use your understanding of SQL and visualization techniques to make sense of information and present findings

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Tableau, Hadoop or other visualization tools
  • Experience with Alteryx, Tableau, R, Python, Spark, Scala, or other programming languages
  • Experience with other analytical tools, such as SAS, Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics

The next step in the Specialisterne recruitment process is an Employment Discovery Workshop on campus. It is a hands-on, task-based experience where you will work on specific projects in a relaxed setting. It is an opportunity to learn about our approach to hiring, and for us to get to know you – what motivates you, your interests and your skills.
